                      Part 6
January 17, 2009:
Our Constitutionally mandated bi-annual meeting for election of officers was held on January 17, 2009 at our old standby; El Fenix in downtown Dallas.  Seventeen of us showed up for a little business and a lot of eating and yakking.  Out-going President Jim Ray called the meeting to order and called on Nominating Committee Chairman Duane Starkey.  Duane announced the slate of officers proposed by the Committee:  Kent Pollard, Pres.; Jerry Smith, 1st V.P.; Lewis Minshew, 2nd V.P.; Shirley Young Sutton, Secretary; Duane Starkey, Treasurer.  After a motion by Jerry Smith, seconded by at least 6 other people, the nominations were closed and the slate of officers was elected for the next 2 year term.  The business part of the meeting was closed and we got down to some serious visiting.  Pictures are available by clicking here .
March 7, 2009:
Our second meeting of the year was held at the old standby, El Fenix, on this date.  We had a good turnout of 25 or 26 happy folks (mostly).  Nothing of note happened today, except we set the date for the annual picnic for June 6 at Pat & Brax Doak's place again.  It's such a great place for a picnic and the Doaks are such great hosts!  There are a bunch of pics, but with 3 of us taking pics, there are a lot of repeats (different angles). See what I mean by going here .
June 6, 2009:
18 of us gathered at the Doak's again to celebrate Betty's birthday.  Well, okay, so that's not why we went; but it was her birthday.  It was a little warm, but with all the great shade at the Doak's great place, we enjoyed the great outdoors.  Lots of pics again.  Check 'em here .
September 12, 2009:
It was a wet, soggy day; but that didn't keep 21 hardy souls away from fellowship and food at El Fenix.  Preident Pollard had a few words of wisdom and solicited suggestions for the location of our Christmas get-together and Treasurer Starkey passed out a statement of financial condition, which is still healthy, but dwindling - then  he passed the hat for more contributions.   We missed our friends who rarely miss, but were absent on this occasion; but we enjoyed the company of one or two that we rarely see.  You can check out who was present by going here .
