Newsworthy and Upcoming Events
                        Part 4
January 13. 2007 :
On a perfectly miserable, cold, and rainy day, with threatening freezing rain and ice, we held our 7th annual meeting and constitutionally mandated bi-annual election of officers. 7 hardy souls braved the elements to complete our appointed task.  It didn't take long to elect, by acclamation: Jim Ray, President; Kent Pollard, VP; Shirley Young  Sutton, Secretary; and Ann Ratterree Pennington, Treasurer.  After that, it was just a matter of scarfing up the vittles and visiting.  The guys talked about airplanes and flying stories, and the gals just suffered in silence.  Helyn will be leaving soon to attend to some family business in South Africa.  We are currently seeking volunteers to do the Newsletter while she is gone for an extended period.  For a Very few pics, click Here.

Our regular meeting was held at our usual place.  Since our recent outings had been so small, Jim scheduled us for a smaller room; but lo and behold...we overflowed and had to move to the old larger room.  We were graced this time by some seldom seen classmates.  Jan Smith Terrana was in town and she brought her daughter, and Dorothy Arnold Paffendorf brought her daughter.  Doris & Bob Mayers returned after missing a few meetings.  All together, I counted 21 of us.  To see who all was there click here.  A couple of pics were from earlier times because I failed to get a pic of Weldon and Betty & I.
June 23, 2007:

This was our (sometimes) annual picnic, and it was held at the Doak's again.  What a great place for a picnic!  We couldn't have a ordered a better day for it, either.  For a pictorial tour of the Doak house, click here.  We didn't go to the top floor, which is an office looking over the lower house.  About 20 of us showed up for some good barbecue with all the fixin's and some good fellowship.  It was good to see Jacquelyn up and around again, and Lewis'  new hip seemed to be working well.

September 22, 2007:
Our regular quarterly meeting was held at the old faithful El Fenix on Saturday September 22. A brief business meeting was conducted by Jim Ray.  He gave a report of the last meeting, in lieu of reading of the minutes by Secretary Shirley Young Sutton (who was conspicuous by her absence); followed by a presentation of the Financial report by Treasurer Ann Ratterree Pennington (who was also conspicuous for the same reasons listed above).  You may have a peek at this report by clicking here .  He then asked if there was any new business, and when none was reported from the floor, he presented his versionof new business.  In consultation with other members of our class, the site of our Christmas meeting was selected as La Calle Doche on 12th Street.  By a vote of the majority present at the meeting, the date was selected as Saturday, December 8 at noon.  The meeting was adjourned in time to enjoy our meal and some large doses of fellowship and general fun. More of y'all really ought to come and enjoy us more often.  For some decent pix for a change (I said decent, not good; but at least I ain't ashamed of 'em for a change), click here .
December 8, 2007:

Our annual Christmas get-together and Chinese gift exchange was held at La Calle Doche last Saturday, and what a fun time it was; but I wouldn't be surprised if it was the last Chinese gift exchange!  We had a lot of fun, and it was a very congenial and fun group, indeed.  Sorry that more of you couldn't join us.  We missed you, and it would have been that much merrier if you had been there.  When you look at the pictures, don't try to adjust your screen to make 'em clearer;  that's the shaky old hand of your webmaster behind the camera that makes 'em fuzzy.  Lewis, you would have been okay if you hadn't moved just as I clicked the shutter.  To see what I'm talkin' about, click here
