Half-Time is my first and only published work.  It was written and published in the Fall of 1950 when I was a lowly freshman at NTSC (now UNT).  This published work is not as I wrote, although the form and spirit of my work is intact.  When the editor "suggested" changes, I was too dumb to realize that I didn't have to accept those changes.  Some of the new wording(i.e. "those hep-cats are blowing a fuse" ) is definitely not my style, and I still think my novice work would have been better as originally written.  Judge for yourself from the original hand-written reproduction below.
Jerry (AKA Robert G.)Smith
of course I did!
All the mark-overs and changes are from the magazine's editor.  He or she ( I don't remember which) changed it to present tense, but it was written in past tense because it was over and it happened (more or less)
